There are many outfitters in the area to choose from and most offer whitewater trips on neighboring rivers as well. We’re happy to provide a list to you based on your interest.
Whether you are fly fishing for native brook trout in a cold mountain stream, smallmouth or largemouth bass in beautiful Fontana Lake or rainbow or brown trout in one of the many stocked streams or rivers, Swain County hosts one of the most diverse fishing habitats in the world.
There are excellent trout streams within minutes of Nantahala Village and access to Fontana Lake is just around the corner. We are happy to recommend fly fishing guides and boat rental outfitters.
Fontana Lake provides a number of recreational diversions including fishing, boating and water skiing. Those fortunate enough to go boating on Fontana Lake have a unique perspective of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. At places the view is unobstructed from the lake level to the top of towering Clingmans Dome, the Park's highest peak. With 240 miles of shoreline and clear clean water, it is easy to have a fun relaxing day on Fontana Lake.
Pontoon and fishing boats can be rented for a day of fun from Almond Boat Dock just 10 minutes from Nantahala Village.
